The Challenge
To build a
world class, high performance booking engine for Vacation Travel
Reservations. Operating out of multiple call centers, the
requirement was to give near instant response to travelers on
vacation choices while connecting real time to thousands of hotels,
airlines, leisure services and car rental agencies.
The Solution
Business
Process experts from Blue Marlin Systems helped the customer to
design a lean front-end GUI that satisfied both needs - quick
response on travel options while also providing opportunities
of up-selling of profitable services.
The technical architecture was built for J2EE-compliant e-business
server platforms like BEA Web logic and IBM Websphere. The design
made efficient use of EJBs and "state full-session EJBs"
for business process entities and Servlets for workflow components. Using
JMS/RMI, the service EJBs interacted with middleware MQSeries
application using an XML-based message structure.
